About the Role
This position is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles and machinery in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety. Duties include but are not limited to: cleaning, painting, lawn maintenance, weed and pest control, replacement of lights, debris removal, minor plumbing and electrical work, equipment evaluation and repair, smoke detector maintenance, construction, etc. This person will also work in other Lafourche ARC’s premises (Main Office, Community Homes, Vocational Buildings, Apartment Complex) when needed.

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles and
machinery in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety. Duties include but are
not limited to: cleaning, painting, lawn maintenance, weed and pest control, replacement of lights,
debris removal, minor plumbing and electrical work, equipment evaluation and repair, smoke
detector maintenance, construction, etc. This person will also work in other Lafourche ARC’s
premises (Main Office, Community Homes, Vocational Buildings, Apartment Complex) when
needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be
assigned or required.
Conducts and assesses major, minor and routine repair and maintenance of buildings,
grounds machinery and vehicles.
Responds to emergency repairs and completes repairs as directed by immediate
supervisor.
Constructs and repairs building(s).
Maintains lawn care at Lafourche Arc’s premises. Washes and cleans agency vehicles
and lawn care equipment if needed.
Receives and ships all job related materials.
Keeps immediate supervisor well informed of activities, results of efforts, problems
identified/potential problems, etc.; recommends corrective action to immediate supervisor
for approval.
Follows instructions and responds to management directions.
Completes and submits all required paperwork.
Reports to work regularly and on time.
Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments and priorities. Anticipates and plans accordingly.
Develops and maintains an excellent working relationship with supervisor,
people/individuals support, staff and visitors.
Respects confidentiality in discussing individuals supported, staff, and visitors; also
maintains confidentiality in personnel related matters.

Typical work hours (7:30AM-3:30PM Monday thru Friday) unless requested to work
otherwise by supervisor or designee.
Monitoring of transportation fleet (operational condition). Basic maintenance of fleet
vehicles (change burnt lights, change windshield wipers, seal water leaks, clean rear air condition filters, check tire pressure and wear, battery, air filter, and fluid levels.).
Conducts thorough facility cleaning, as directed. Assures that all exits are accessible and
free of obstructions. Assists others with cleaning and organizing donations as needed.
Remove all unwanted animals, pests, and insects from the buildings or grounds.
Reports to other Lafourche Arc’s premises when needed.
Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability
to speak effectively before groups of individuals/people we support or employees of the
organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,
interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to
apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to
assess, project and plan for departmental needs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have chauffeur’s license to provide transportation Must also meet all requirements set forth
by Lafourche Arc's insurance policy/carrier..

About the Company
Lafourche Arc is a private non-profit organization which began operation in 1963 to provide services to each and every individual who is a part of our Lafourche Arc family.. Prior to that time, there were no services of any kind available in Lafourche Parish for people with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Today the agency provides a wide array of supports to approximately 250 individuals with various types of disabilities throughout a seven parish area.
